CDMA Vs GSM Mobile Handsets

CDMA Vs GSM Mobile Handsets

In mobile service there are two main rival network technologies: GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and (CDMA) Code Division Multiple Access. CDMA mobilesin India are gaining popularity day after day; they offer wide network coverage in minimum charges. Most of the mobile users choose GSM handsets due to better facilities provided by the operators. But, nowadays, CDMA handsets and GSM mobile provider offer almost the same range of the facilities.

CDMA Mobile handsets in India have achieved momentum with some major operators like Tata Indicom, Docomo, Reliance, BSNL and MTNL planning to expand their trade plans. They have tied up with some big mobile brands like Nokia, Samsung and Motorola. GSM handsets are already used worldwide with over millions of subscribers. GSM is on its maturity level means a more stable network with robust features. CDMA is still building its network. CDMA Mobile price is usually more affordable than GSM handsets. They also offer economical services and they have been a reasonable hit in the urban market. So guys, chill, CDMA handsets are good to use.

But there are some major disadvantages in CDMA mobile handsets. One cannot use CDMA mobile phone with a SIM card. So you have to stick around with one handset for a long time. CDMA cannot offer international roaming, a large GSM advantage. The biggest drawback for CDMA handsets is they aren't compatible with GSM handsets. Let's talk about the drawbacks of GSM handsets, in case your SIM card is lost then all data is lost unless you have it stored in the phone memory. Call costs will still remain higher compared to CDMA. Roaming costs are much lower in CDMA compared to GSM. Even now some dual sim mobiles are come up with both services GSM plus CDMA.
